This is really interesting, I am from the UK and have never heard of being anaesthetised for an IDU. I’m not sure they do that here.

I’m also guessing that all the people that said it hurt like hell have also never had children. Childbirth hurts!! My experience of having the copper coil fitted was not pleasant, and yes it hurt but was also bearable. But also in the UK they don’t recommend an IDU until after children because of the risk of perforating the whomb.
