My Story Got Distributed, And Then It Tanked

What Gives?

It always makes my day when a story gets chosen for further distribution. I take it as a sign that my writing is valuable and good if Medium decides it wants to push it out to more people, my ego needs that bit of reassurance every now and then.

My article 11 Simple Strategies To Help You Lose Weight Naturally was the most recent article that got distributed.

The story started off pretty well in comparison to previous articles and began picking up views, reads and comments.

Then I noticed it got distributed, wahoo celebrate. And then almost immediately after distribution views seemed to drop off a cliff edge and it tanked.

So what gives?

Is distribution something that is even worth having? What’s the actual point of it if it doesn't actually help your article to reach more people?

This is still a fairly recent article published around 10 days ago, maybe it will pick up when I release part two when it’s finished, maybe the algorithm will take it on it’s own, maybe it will pick back up again, who knows?

It does make it incredibly difficult to decipher what Medium wants to see more of.

I’d be interested to hear other people opinions or experiences on this topic of distribution?
