I change my eating order a little after reading the Glucose Revolution book. In that diet she suggests eating veggies first, then protein but still keeping carbs last. The veggies first approach is believed to help slow the rate of gastric emptying and as a result reduces the impact of the glucose spike.

I have found this approach helpful when it's convenient to split up a meal.
